ACTIVATE - EnhAnCing the anti-Trafficking Identification, preVention and supporT mEchanisms

The general objective of the project is to enhance the prevention, identification and support mechanisms against trafficking in human beings (THB) with a special focus on Victims of Trafficking (VoT) for sexual exploitation. More specifically, the project aims at:

Training and sensitising professionals working in the Reception and Identification Centres (RICs) to play active role as a prevention and identification mechanism and the capacity of lawyers to address VoT’s legal issues and needs in a gender-sensitive, human rights-based and victim-centred approach.
Strengthening cooperation among Public Authorities, Civil Society and other key stakeholders.
Proposing online tools in order to improve coordination and cooperation, as well as to exchange knowledge on identification, prevention and protection mechanisms of VoT.
Increasing public awareness about trafficking and other VoT’s issues, thus shaping social acceptance procedures and improving VoT integration prospects in the long-term.

Contributing to the eradication of trafficking, the ACTIVATE project aims to step up actions on the prevention, identification and support mechanisms against trafficking in human beings (THB), with a special focus on Victims of Trafficking (VoT) for sexual exploitation.

The action is expected to benefit 120-240 professionals working in the reception and identification centres, 70-140 lawyers, 3 National and 2 German Federal State Coordination Systems. Moreover, it will also benefit various actors providing support to VoT and combatting THB (NGOs/CSOs, service providers, social partners, refugee, migrant and asylum seeker services, national and/or local authorities etc.) in the partner countries (and/or other MSs). 20,000 people will be reached through the awareness raising campaigns. More specifically target audience will benefit from:

  • Creation of 2 different trainers’ manuals for training staff working in Reception Centres and lawyers
  • Trainings of professionals in Reception Centres and lawyers
  • Lessons Learnt Reports from the implementation of the trainings
  • E-learning tool for future webinars/seminars on staff members of the Reception Centres and lawyers
  • Creation of the National Referral Mechanism platform in Bulgaria
  • Creation of 4 different digital toolkits
  • Creation of a guide on how to refer and support VoTs that face multiple conditions of vulnerability

In the course of this project a network of stakeholders, that will share strategies, capacity building methods, is being built up, thus KMOP aspires to be consolidated as a focal point of organisations and scientific experts. Furthermore, having acquired the know-how through implementing the actions and of this project, KMOP shall be acknowledged as an established organization within the society, in the context of Trafficking against Human beings.
